Use the more difficult rhythms once the children have an understanding of the easier rhythms. |
Play one of the cards for the children. |
Have them come up to the wall and point to the card they heard. |
If they play it correctly allow them to pick an instrument in the room to play the next rhythm of their choice. |
Make sure you review iconic notation prior to playing the game. |
My students learn quarter notes as the word "pie", eighth notes are "apple" or "pumpkin", sixteenth notes are "boysenberry". |
